BIOGRAPHY


Taylor Franklin is a painter, musician, and writer who lives and works in New York City. He is the president of Last Days Publishing; specializing in Poetry, Zines, Art and Photo books.

His works explore both popular culture and imagined narratives which are inspired by film, fiction, writing, music, and art history. He primarily works with acrylic and oil on canvas, but also makes drawings and collages.

Born in 1982 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and growing up in York Maine, Taylor has been making art since his early days learning from his mother, the artist and children's book writer Linda Franklin.

He studied painting at Maine College of Art in Portland Maine, graduating with a BFA in 2006. During his time in Portland, Taylor worked as a assistant and co-curater at the Institute of Contemporary Art at Maine College of Art and as  studio assistant to the artist Sean Foley. Taylor also volunteered at the Portland arts venue SPACE Gallery. These early experiences began Taylor's career shipping and inventorying artwork for prominent contemporary art galleries in New York.

Taylor has participated i residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Contemporary Artists Center in North Adams Massachusetts. Taylor's first solo exhibition was Out the Window, with the Window at A1 Galler in Queens in 2014 and he has most recently shown at June Fitzpatrick Gallery in Portland, Maine in 2016 and BrooklynLime in Brooklyn in 2017.
